Training Package for Lecturers

By designing, implementing, and disseminating new and innovative content for lecturers and trainers, the work package provides solutions addressing the need for coherent and cohesive audiovisual translation for inclusion and accessibility, building or consolidating required knowledge and skills so that lecturers and/or trainers could guide students or novice translators to offer quality audiovisual translation for inclusion services.

The specific objectives of the Training package are:

  • To increase awareness about European audiovisual legislation for inclusion and guidelines among lecturers and trainers to broaden and consolidate their knowledge of the European landscape (legislation, national guidelines) and of audiovisual translation requirements so as to accurately address AVT for inclusion from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
  • To provide lecturers in HEIs and trainers with competences and skills to enable them to teach / implement and assess audiovisual translation for inclusion, i.e. subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing, audio description for the blind and partially sighted.
  • To enhance lecturers’ and trainers’ digital competence in the field of audiovisual translation for inclusion

The main result of the WP is the availability of a training package for academic lecturers in philology and translation studies addressing: fundamental aspects of the European and national legislation on inclusive audiovisual translation, national guidelines in the participating countries, inclusive AVT modalities and their specificities, transitioning to audio description for the blind and partially sighted (AD) and subtitling for the d/Deaf and hard of hearing (SDH).
